Postgraduate Scholarships in Modern Languages

Masters scholarships

The School invites applications for 4 competitive full-fee Masters Scholarships for full-time UK and EU students, each worth £5,730. The scholarships are available to students wishing to study on one of our taught Masters programmes:

§ MA in European Studies
§ MA in Translation Studies

Applicants should normally have a 2:1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.

To apply for one of the Scholarships you should first apply to study on our taught Masters programmes. You should then complete the application form and return by email.

PhD scholarships

The School invites applications for 2 PhD scholarships, each worth £13,500 per year:

§ a PhD scholarship for international students (a 3-year stipend worth £13,500 per year)
§ a PhD scholarship for UK & EU students (a 3-year stipend worth £13,500 per year)


Burse scolare pentru pentru elevi si studenti acordate de Asociatia ASCENDENT

Asociatia ASCENDENT continua in anul scolar 2010-2011, proiectul "Scolile de Duminica" in cadrul caruia ofera burse scolare in valoare de 200 lei/luna pentru elevi si studenti cu performante scolare foarte bune.

"Scoala de Duminica" este un serviciu socio-educational acreditat in formarea de abilitati de viata pentru copii si tineri si reprezinta spatiul in care bursierii vor desfasura activitati de voluntariat (3-4 ore pe saptamana) in beneficiul copiilor scolari asistati de Asociatia ASCENDENT in judetul Ilfov si Bucuresti.


Bursele sunt acordate de Asociatia ASCENDENT in cadrul proiectului “Scolile de Duminica ASCENDENT”, finantat de BRD – Groupe Societe Generale si angajatii sai, prin programul “Schimba un Destin. Da valoare unei vieti”.


Fulbright - Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship - 2009

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished professionals from designated countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe, and Eurasia to the United States at a midpoint in their careers for a year of study and related professional experiences. The Humphrey program was initiated in 1978 to honor the memory and accomplishments of the late Senator and Vice President, Hubert H. Humphrey. Fellows are selected on their potential for national leadership and commitment to public service.

The program provides a basis for establishing lasting ties between citizens of the United States and their professional counterparts in other countries, fostering an exchange of knowledge and mutual understanding throughout the world.


Fulbright Science and Technology Award - 2009

Fulbright Science and Technology Award is for PhD study at top U.S. higher education institutions in the fields of science, technology or engineering. The award is designed to be among the most prestigious international scholarships in science and technology. Each year, approximately 25 awards will be offered worldwide, from 27 countries, for competing candidates who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in scientific fields.


* have Romanian citizenship
* hold a university degree before May 1, the year of the competition
* be proficient in English with a recent ibt TOEFL score (or equivalent) of 92 or higher (interviews will be conducted in English; TOEFL and GRE General/ GRE Subject will be required along the selection process).


Senior Fulbright Award - 2009

Grants are available for:

* conducting research at the U.S. institutions and/or
* lecturing in the United States in Romanian studies (language, history, culture and civilization).

The candidates will be selected through open, merit-based competition

Fields: any field except clinical medicine.


Applicants must meet the following criteria:

* have Romanian citizenship
* hold a doctoral degree or equivalent
* demonstrate that they will benefit professionally from research and/or lecturing in the U.S.
* submit a complete application package including a detailed statement of proposed activity for research or lecturing at an American institution, letters of reference from university professors and/or other acknowledged Romanian or foreign professionals, as well as a copy of their PhD diploma
* candidates are strongly encouraged to attach invitation letter(s) from potential U.S. host institution(s)
* show a proficiency in English (interviews will be conducted in English)
* submit a certificate of health upon request
* in cases in which two candidates receive the same score, preference will be given to candidates who have not received previous funding or spent extensive time in the U.S.
