UNESCO-ASCHBERG Bursaries for Artists programme 2002 - 2003

u Established in 1994, this programme aims to promote the professional growth of young artists in different disciplines, mainly by providing opportunities for further training in specialised institutions. The programme is managed by UNESCO?s International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (IFPC) and is based on the Fund?s co-operation with a large network of international partner institutions. Since the creation of the programme, the number of bursaries offered and applications received has steadily grown. Almost 400 young artists have already benefited from the programme.

u For 2002?2003, the programme proposes and presents 57 bursaries offered by 51 partner institutions in 27 countries. The increasing success of the UNESCO-ASCHBERG Bursaries for Artists has encouraged seven new prestigious institutions to join the network. Similarly, some of the partner institutions have decided to increase the number of bursaries and to enlarge their field of co-operation to others disciplines.

u To make it easier to find your way through this programme, the bursaries offered have been grouped together by discipline: visual arts / music / dance / creative writing / performing arts / media arts.

u The offered bursaries have been studied in order to give a full picture of the residency and to provide precise information on the host institution, the nature of the bursary, eligibility and application procedures.

u The final selection results will be published from July 2002. The selection process is conducted jointly by an International Artistic Committee set up each year by the IFPC and the host institutions. The meeting of the International Artistic Committee will take place in June-July 2002.
